Dev Diary: Harvest, Steam and GNCD

We started previewing the Harvest Theme this week. There was an insightful article up on the website with some screenshots, here. Paul also went through it on this week’s Twitch feed which is well worth a watch if you’re one of our many talented course designers, here. The feedback so far has been really positive so I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys can design for us with it.

We also found out today that we were in the Top 20 for the “Average Hours Played Per User” on Steam for 2014, here. It’s a great achievement for us and proves that the game has the ability to suck people in and keep people playing with just a good simulation of the game of golf and without unnecessary bells and whistles.

Greg Norman Jr did a great article with Score Golf last week, name checking The Golf Club and how they’re using it over at Greg Norman Course Design. It’s a great read so take a look at that, here.

For those of you that haven’t seen the forums over the last 24hrs, Lorin announced he’s leaving the role of Community Manager this week. So from all the team, we’d just like to thank him and let the person who takes his place know that he’ll have some big shoes to fill. We hope to have a new CM soon!

Last week we created a tour that combined the 3 courses that I recommended last week. The results for the tour are as follows:

The HB Suggested Cup – Week 1 Results

10 shots separated the top 10 with daddyjules10 coming out victorious with a 32 under for the 4 rounds and a 3 shot cushion over Sherpabpd in 2nd with his 29 under. Well done daddyjules10, let’s see if you can do it again this week!

Courses of the week
  • The Shakespeare Golf Club, Stratford-Upon-Avon, England – Biggins
  • Old High Hensley – MAJOR HIGH
  • 9 @ Jungfrau Pass – DogGzbollox
HB Official Tournaments for the week

I’ve created 3 different tournaments for these which will hopefully give everyone a chance of a win.

  • HB Suggested Amateur Cup – W2
    • 4 rounds on 9 @ Jungfrau Pass for players with a HC of 1 or worse.
  • HB Suggested Pro Cup – W2
    • 4 rounds on Old High Hensley for players with a 0 HC or better
    • This has the Scout Cam Off.
  • HB ProAm Handicap Cup – W2
    • 4 rounds at Shakespeare Golf Club for players with a HC of 5 or better.

I’ll post the results next week, so good luck out there.

See you on the course,
