THE TROPICAL THEME

The Tropical Theme is a long awaited addition to the Greg Norman Course Designer and is The Golf Club’s ninth Theme, coming after The Countryside Theme, The Harvest Theme, The Alpine Theme, The Rural Theme, The Links Theme, The Desert Theme, The Autumn Theme and The Boreal Theme. It will be available in the disc-based version of the game or will be part of the DLC that will be available for purchase by owners of the digital version. Themes are the various environments that the Greg Norman Course Designer uses when creating a course and describe the terrain, the flora, the fauna, the water, the tees, the fairways, the rough, the greens and the surrounding land.

The Tropical Theme has a climate which is typical of equatorial and tropical regions with continually high temperatures and considerable sunshine but with considerable precipitation during part of the year. During certain periods there is the potential for thunderstorms every day. Temperatures fall no lower than 20 degrees centigrade and rarely exceed 35 degrees. This all provides ideal growing conditions.

The vegetation is extremely varied and luxuriant. It’s beauty will provide the perfect backdrop for some great rounds of golf. It is a lush, green, exotic and eminently healthy landscape characterized by palms, mahogany, cedar, wild olive, mangrove, muskwood and others. There are, also, a wide selection of decorative plants and small trees that can be added to any Tropical course in the Greg Norman Course Designer.

Fairway firmness in this Theme are, generally, medium to hard whilst the light rough is not too taxing. Heavy rough, on the other hand, dense and potentially damp, can be a very expensive place to land. Beyond the rough there are long grasses and thick shrubs with the surrounding trees varying greatly in frequency.

The greens will be medium to medium-fast in speed and fairly receptive. The beautiful white sand in the bunkers provides a lovely contrast to the strong greens in the terrain and vegetation and, when the sun angle is right, the beautiful blues in the water. The backdrops will offer a rugged, small mountain range, tree covered hills and a low, slightly hilly scene.
