Guitardude_324 - Designer Showcase

1. How long have you been playing The Golf Club?
I’ve been playing the golf club since Beta. A month or two before final release.
2. How would you describe your style of designing?
I try to make sure my courses look like they can exist in real life. This leads to courses that aren’t terribly difficult because I try to imagine that my courses are played by high handicappers as well as the pros. I try to make sure that every tee shot is memorable and different from the tee shot before it.
3. What do you use for inspiration when designing your courses?
I like to use real courses and most holes are built from pictures I’ve seen. Some holes are built with elements from separate holes. Some are built on one photo with a limited point of view and I imagine everything else that isn’t seen in the photo, and usually, a couple holes on each course are a recreation of some of my favorite holes that I’ve played in the past.
4. Which two of your own courses are your favorites?
Whispering River has certainly gotten a lot of good publicity. It was intended to be 9 holes for a contest, but I ended up building the back 9 because it was well received. Last I checked, it has had over 10,000 plays worldwide which is something I’m incredibly proud of. Bailiwick Grand is a course that I built with JWFickett. It was all built around that 18th hole which was the starting point for the whole course. It wasn’t just a great partnership, but it was (and still is) a great friendship.
5. Do you play golf in real life?
Yes, I’ve been playing for 18 years (since I was 9) and I’m a 4 handicap.
6. Besides playing/designing in TGC , what are your other hobbies?
I play guitar.
7. What is your favorite ice cream?
Orange Creamsicle by Breyers.
